"This doesn't happen in India!" That's What People Say!

I was listening to a conversation on radio this morning where an RJ was asking people to tell how many times they have heard their family telling them that “This doesn't happen in India”. Well I could so much relate to the reply from people from all across telling their experiences when they tried doing something out of their wish and they were made to shut their mouth. And when they tried asking for a logical reason, the only answer was “Aisa Nai Chalta India Mein”. I mean like really? Aisa nai chalta!
How many times have you been regarded correct when you say these things to them? At least I have got only one reply and that is “This doesn't happen in India”.

1. “It’s OK even if I get married by 35 or 40. It’s totally normal”: Excuse me, this doesn't happen in India. You parents would end up scolding you on the top of their voice, if they hear you saying this. According to our society, everyone should be married by the time they are 30. That’s the threshold. They say “after 30, you will not get good options or maybe you won’t be able to get married ever”. As if everyone who’s unmarried will die after crossing 30.

2. “Let’s not call Uncle Ajay from Mumbai for this wedding”: A guy explained that he asked his mother to invite only those people for his wedding who are in constant tough and avoid calling few guests from different cities who have been totally out of touch for good long time. He got the same reply “Aisa nai chalta India mein”. Do we have a logical reasoning to it?

3. “I want to remain single for the rest of my life”: You will be hanged to death if you say this. This doesn't happen in India along with showers of scolding will be there for you in case you try to ask them the logic behind it.

4. “I want to go to see my friend in London”: Again this doesn’t happen in India. Can anyone explain by what logic? Can’t we go to meet our friends?

5. “I want to go clubbing this weekend”: “India me ye bhi nai chalta”. This is again one of the biggest crimes if your parents get to know that you are planning to go for clubbing this weekend and not to stay at your friends place. In the whole scolding, you will be told ample of times that this doesn't works in India. Can anyone explain why having fun in India is a big crime?

6. “I will wear shots tomorrow at college”: I am sure many girls would have heard their parents telling them not to try wearing shots outside your home. We live in a country, where the police and politicians too say that girls invite guys by wearing short clothes. What else we can expect from our parents when they know it’s not safe at all outside. I don’t blame parents totally on that.

7. “Let me go a pick those stones lying in the middle of the road. This can be accidental for someone”: The most common reply that one of your family members might say “You alone won’t be able to change the society you don’t need to do any such things. This doesn't happen in India”.

8. “Throw trash in the bin”: This is what you hear them saying "Oh common, who does that now? Nothing's gonna change if you do this too. This doesn't happen in India".

9.      Girl: "I want to study more and don't want to marry at least till I am 32" : A common reply to this statement would be "This doesn't happen in India. Girls should be married by 25. That's the perfect age. Anyways, Why do you need to study? Your husband will earn for you. You should learn cooking and household jobs.". Again, can anyone give a logic? Why can't girls plan their career and live the way they want to?

These are just a very few statements that will help you get the reply “This doesn't happen in India”. This is a never ending list as our countrymen follow so many rules with no or meaningless logic just to tell you that you are not allowed to do what you want but should follow what others say, despite they have a logical reasoning to it or not!

Do you realize that by accepting this statement we too are becoming a part of those meaningless logic. Many times we stop ourselves from lot of good habits too since people around tell us that we don't need to do that.

Sigh!

Why Finex Media Services?

No doubts, there are ample of players in website designing, content writing and social media marketing. Still I decided to get in to the same league.

Everyone asked me Why?

And my answer remained same, that despite of being in the same industry, when I decided to launch my own eCommerce portal www.gettheheck.com I could not find the right company to support me and represent my portfolio in the expected way. I would not say that www.gettheheck.com is simply awesome in looks and features yet its lot better than the output that I had been delivered.  I would not say that there aren't companies doing well in this area. Definitely, they are there but the huge amount that they charge is simply too much for any individual or a start up. Not just that, there is no such communication constantly being kept from the company’s side with the client. No communication means work stopped!

Finex Media Services.com was launched with the vision to remove the gap of communication between the client and the company. We take the charge of following up with the client so that the client doesn't have to get into the hassles of giving set of instructions to us again and again.

“Follow your Heart”, Do we really do that?

I often hear this statement “Follow your Heart” from many people around. Often mentors, teachers and friends tell us to do this. We can read stories guiding people that they should do things according to what they feel is right.

But do we really do that?

Do we even spend a single day as per our own choice?

We go to school, as we are expected to go to school.

We take up a job, as we are expected to take one.

We marry, as we are expected to marry till some defined age or so.

What do we do with our choice?

AND In case you dare to actually “Follow your Heart”… Be ready to become a laughter element for the society.

This is why no one dares to “Follow their Heart”.

But what if Albert Einstien also decided not to be different? We would have lost a wonderful knowledge guru and would have been refrained by his great theories and philosophies.

And what if Sir Columbus had also decided to stop his craving for traveling? America would not have been discovered too.

These are instances from past when people were courageous enough to “follow their heart”.

It’s quite disappointing but the trust is that these days we do not “Follow our heart”. We are fearful of society and do not have courage to believe ourselves.

We need to understand that we all have a life of our own and we have a right to live it free.

“Follow your Heart” works only once you stick to your belief.

Be courageous enough to be yourself. Live Life on your terms.

FOLLOW YOUR HEART!

Does glamour makes your product popular?

It might look boring to a few of you for reading this short story which has nothing to do with. But the reason why I am putting it down here is I am still struggling to know where I was wrong.

Why glamour get more importance in the advertising world?

It was some 5 years ago I guess when I was struggling for a good job here and there. Each day was a new struggle in a new place of Delhi. It’s quite hard to manage especially in the hot humid atmosphere. Anyways, I managed to reach to some part of South Delhi from North to give my interview as a content writer. Luckily, I could clear the first round and then it was the second one where I was supposed to write on the “Important of girl/women in Advertising” (Not exactly this but something related).
I stated the honest opinion saying that “I personally don’t like advertisements showing up more of glamour and less of product value and importance and so on”. Probably this was like a criticism for the ad agency (of course I would not take its name) and I was not selected.  They called me in for a face to face and asked me to justify what I had written. Without any doubts, I said what I wrote and, honestly felt. The discussion went long where they kept on comment against my views and I stuck to my thoughts.

However, I lost it. They clearly mentioned that you are not from today’s society so you should first change your views and then look for a job in this industry.  That time, I felt shattered and started to question myself.

Today, I laugh.  With the same opinions I managed to survive here but is it really a fact that it’s the glamour only that makes your product sell?

I see many advertisements where girls have no role to play yet they are there. Is it because we live in a society full of perverts?

What Are We Running For?

I had always been dedicated to my work.

And so, most of the time I was made responsible for any new task that came in our office.

No doubts I handled everything perfectly well.

Until a new person joined claimed that she can do the entire task that I do, in comparatively lesser time.

This was not what I was expecting to happen.

All this made me so irritated that I decided to challenge her and challenge myself. I decided to quicken my speed and do things better than she tried to do.

Each day passing by, my speed improved. Yes, now even I could manage tasks in so much lesser time. I felt satisfied looking at my better and her average performance.

This went on for more than a year and I kept on succeeding over her.

After exactly 1 year, my company hired a new person similar to my profile.

And now he claimed that he can perform better than me.

This was again heights for me. I decided to give it back. And again start my race. But at the end of the day, when I reached back, I thought to myself “what is this that I am doing. Am I that perfect to succeed over
everyone? Can I beat this guy again? Of course I can but definitely I cannot be better than everyone.

Whatever pace I can ever reach in life, there will still be people around doing better than me, owning a better car, a better apartment and a better family.

Didn't I have all that?

Yes, I did.

I was just lacking satisfaction.

Success is in Satisfaction for what I have, what god has given me.

I smiled and said to myself, “I am happy for what I have and will always be. This rat race will never end but we might end up living soon. This sense of competition will keep om pushing me to the never ending struggle and would never let me live. I am not going to let that happen”.

The very next day, I went back to office and before we started working, I sat with the young lad and told him about my life and ask him about his. He was shocked yet happy.

Today, we are buddies.

I never told him but told myself that he might be best in everything even I am the best but in my own way and shall always be.

I decide to stay away from the rat race and keep performing for my own satisfaction and not for what people expect from me.

Indian Girls: Don’t teach us what to wear teach your sons not to rape and respect us!

On one hand I hear loud voices shouting for justice for the poor girl who was raped publicly by 6 men couple of weeks back and on the other hand, 2 more cases have been registered during this time. It came to me as a big shock that victims of more than 70 thousand rape cases are still waiting for a decision.

Since quite a few days I am connected to few people from Australia. They got connected as clients but end up becoming great pals. We often spend quality time together. Every time we sit to chit chat, they have something or the other to talk about their love and respect for India and its people. Not even a single conversation ends without praise for the culture, tradition, values and other richness of the nation. I cannot explain how much proud I used to feel hearing those golden words from them. Anyways, I have always heard about India being praised all around the globe.

Today, I feel ashamed about being a part of such a nation. What’s more disappointing is that the youth is being suppressed than being supported. I myself witnessed the huge crowd and the acts of suppression by our own countrymen.

I totally agree with the thought that I saw in one of the banners at the protest:
Girl: Don’t teach us what to wear teach your sons not to rape and respect us!

Our society needs to be reformed at least in terms thoughts. Rather than just teaching values, we need to teach respect & honor towards women without whom men can’t even enter the world.

Significance of Social Media Marketing: Content, its Reach or Campaign?

My experience of 4 years in content writing and digital marketing doesn’t give me enough right to start sharing my views on how any company should plan its marketing efforts. I am still new to the industry and have to learn a lot before I start advising. Yet my association with different start-up has given me a confidence to express my views about the use and relevance social media marketing for businesses.

Content has been regarded as king in search engine optimization and content has importance in social media too. But, is it the content only that can work in full scale marketing of a business, at least when it comes to social media? I believe, definitely content drives but its viral-ity in the form of campaign is equally important. Content can be in the form of images, videos, statements, information etc. Different forms of content works in different forms of mediums. For example, images work more on Facebook but less on other mediums. Likewise, one needs to figure out on the use of content but only based on the concept based campaign that can help you to get established in the target market.

Marketing of any business is one the most challenging tasks especially for new entrants. With ample of competition around, it’s not easier to create a mark of their own in the same industry where a giant company already has a prime position. New ways of the marketing and advertising support business in market penetration, lead generation and overall market positioning.

It’s just that you need to plan and decide on how to use the best tools available in social media marketing.
